“There are several factors that have contributed to the current growth in the smartphone market, including a boom in online sales, a shift from being primarily a tablet market to a smartphone market and an increase in the adoption of mobile phones by consumers,” said Anil Kumar, senior director, research, Mobile Devices, Strategy & Research, Nielsen India.
As the smartphone industry continues to grow, so too is the smartphone app ecosystem.
The popularity of smartphone apps, which are built using Java, has led to an increase of the apps available in the market.
While the number of apps available for the popular Android mobile platform has increased, the number for iOS is increasing at an alarming rate.
Analysing the smartphone ecosystem in India, a large portion of the mobile apps available are for smartphones and other mobile devices.
The smartphone apps market in 2019 is expected increase by around 20 per cent, which has contributed to a huge jump in the number in app stores.
The top five app stores in India are Play Store, Appstore, Google Play, Apple App Store and Amazon Appstore.
The top five apps for mobile devices are Snapdeal, Zomato, Flipkart, and Flipkara.
In the year to March 2019, the top five mobile apps were all from Android, while the top ten were from iOS.
The growth in smartphone app stores is attributed to a variety of factors, including the popularity of mobile applications in India.
This growth in app store popularity has been attributed to the fact that the Android app market is growing rapidly.
It is expected that in 2019, app stores will grow by a massive 60 per cent to reach over 20 million app store users.
